What an awesome day at polyfest we had! |
It was really cool learning how to escape from a burning house. Polyfest is a place to go and enjoy awesome performances but it is also a place where you can learn things. They had awesome competitions like singing and dancing.
It was such a pleasure getting the chance to go Polyfest. There were thousands of beautiful Pasifika people there. There were lots of cool dances and performances and you can’t forget “the food”, the yummy delicious, mouth-watering food. Our purpose for going was to report on what Polyfest is and ask people questions about why Polyfest is so amazing.
Being a reporter is not as easy as it looks. Although I was nervous, I still did it. The more people we interviewed the easier it became and the more our confidence grew.
We had the chance to meet some celebrities like D.J Poroufessor, Ruben Wiki, Maria Tutaia and Hunter from Shortland Street. Having a media pass was awesome and made us feel like V.I.Ps.

Polyfest is an awesome time to go and watch some awesome traditional dances. Polyfest has 5 main stages Maori , Tongan , Nieuan , Cook Island and Samoan they all did traditional dances they were all outstanding performances. Polyfest also has a Diversity stage where you can see other culture performances like Indian , Chinese and many more. We watched Maori stage because it was my classes focus to learn the tradional waiata (song) for the Manurewa pepeha. It was such a pleasure to view the awesome talent that the school's in Auckland have. Throughout the three days my favourite performance overall was James Cook High School. All the other schools were really really good. I am looking forward to seeing James Cook High School's Kapa Haka roopu again next year. :)
